You’ve prepared for your guests arrivals, now it’s time to make sure they actually feel at home after they’ve arrived. You want them to feel the mi casa es su casa vibe and rule out any possibility that they might be walking on eggshells in a place not their own. There are a variety of things you could do to make their stay more comfortable, but I think there’s more to it than just giving them some extra pillows and blankets. It comes down to their overall experience.
Involve Guests in the Planning. If your houseguest(s) have come for a special occasion, party, or holiday, let them in on the planning. Better yet, let them help you in the kitchen. Growing up in a family that spent the majority of time in the kitchen at all family gatherings, I’m a firm believer that kitchens are the best location for conversation and memory making. Furthermore, I’ve had and have been the guest that doesn’t quite know what to do if not doing something to contribute. A simple task like making the cocktails or appetizers truly makes a person feel a part of the family and comfortable in their surroundings.
Introduce Them to Friends. I’m going to assume that your houseguests are amazing people, which probably also means your local group of friends are also equally amazing. Introduce them to one another! Nothing says “home sweet home” quite like a group of fun people. It’s a great way to share stories and, of course, make new memories with your closest people.
Show Them Favorite Neighborhood Spots. Your favorite neighborhood bar is your favorite for a reason, so share that with your guests. Let them experience why it’s so great and help them feel more like it’s their own neighborhood favorite.
