A staple in interior design is the presence of the ever-popular accent wall. Accent walls come in many forms: solid colors, wallpaper, galleries, wood planks, and more. As a flooring specialist, I’ve become accustomed to customers using our flooring for more than just the floor, in particular, our vinyl flooring. Luxury Vinyl Planks can have many uses and shouldn’t be limited to flooring. Think outside of the box and imagine having a specific wall with luxury vinyl creating a wood accent.
One of my clients did just that using GoHaus Utility vinyl planks to make a wood look accent wall in a room. It’s a DIY-friendly wood accent wall that is also easy on the wallet.
If you are looking into a project similar to this, below are several steps to make sure you’re going in the right direction.

Step 1: Calculate the square footage by measuring the width and height of the wall and multiplying those two numbers together. For example, a wall that is 10’ high and 12’ wide equals a 120 square feet. If this wall has windows or doors, remember to deduct the size of the windows and/or doors from the total.

Step 3: Once you have your materials, lay the planks out and plan the layout before application. This helps you determine where you need to makes cuts in the planks to create a staggered pattern.
Step 4: Apply the vinyl planks to your wall using an adhesive such as liquid nail or Shur tape. My client who did this wall used Shur and it worked very well. Liquid nail is a great option; however; only use this if you have no plans to remove the planks from your wall. There is another option for creating a wood look accent wall without adhering the planks and that’s by applying the vinyl to a thin plywood piece and drilling it to the wall. If you ever want to remove the accent wall, all you have to do is remove a few screws.
